Charities

At present we work with four great charities that are close to our hearts, however we understand that every charity is important and we are open to all ideas, so get in touch if you want us to host an event for you.
We are currently working with – The Royal Osteoporosis Society   YDC (Young Diabetes Connections)  The Royal British Legion, Thrombosis UK  and Demelza. Our aim is to raise funds and much needed awareness for the charities.
When you enter one of our events a percentage of your entry fee will go straight to the charity that we are supporting for that run, along with any photograph that is sold on the day.  So just by entering and participating in one of our events you will be helping a great cause.
The charities we work with are really grateful for your support and extra fund raising is always welcome.  So if you would like to run for the charity hosting one of our races please click on the link below to pass on your information.  If you raise a minimum of £60 the charity in question will supply you with a professional running vest to wear on the day, (the vest will guarantee you extra cheers from our team of marshals)
Good Luck! Here are a few words from each of our charities.

N O S

Royal Osteoporosis Society

The Royal Osteoporosis Society is the only UK-wide charity dedicated to improving the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is a term used to describe bones that are fragile and are more likely to fracture. 1 in every 2 women and 1 in every 5 men over the age of 50 will fracture a bone, mainly due to poor bone health. Fragile bones can devastate lives – broken bones rob people of their independence, mobility and quality of life.

By joining Team Osteoporosis, you’ll be helping to support our ground-breaking scientific research, our nurse-led Helpline and our work to secure better standards of care. And of course, running is a fantastic way to keep your bones healthy!

If you’d like to find out more about the Charity and about how you can fundraise for our vital work by raising sponsorship, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch at running@nos.org.uk or call us on 0845 130 3076.

Together we can put an end to unnecessary broken bones, saving thousands of lives and helping millions of people to live without pain and disability.

Young Diabetes Connections

Young Diabetes Connections is part of the Kings College Hospital Charity. It focuses on providing education and fun events locally in Bromley, Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham for the 500 children and young people with diabetes.

Living with diabetes is a challenge and we at YDC want to support our young people and families as much as we can. We want to enable them to enjoy life to the full while achieving good control of their diabetes and transition as healthy young adults.

Poppy AppealThe Royal British Legion

The Royal British Legion is the UK’s leading Armed Forces charity. We are at the heart of a national network that supports our Armed Forces community through thick and thin – ensuring their unique contribution is never forgotten. We provide practical, emotional and financial support to a vast beneficiary community – 6.2 million people, all members of the British Armed Forces past and present, and their dependants. Whether it’s families coping with the loss of a loved one, help at home to adapt to independent living, recovery centres for injured personnel, money and careers advice or residential care: we are there to help.

thrombosis ukThrombosis UK

A charity which endeavours to reflect all aspects of thrombosis care and research in the UK. It came about because of the lack of awareness amongst the general public, politicians and health professionals, of the dangers of thrombosis. Indeed, thrombosis is arguably the largest cause of death in the UK, and probably in the developed world. The aim of the Charity is to raise awareness and educate everyone about thrombosis and its prevention, as well as fund relevant research aimed at filling the gaps that exist in current medical knowledge. It is estimated that around 25,000 people die every year, mostly unnecessarily, as a result of thrombosis associated with hospital admissions alone (the highest risk factor for developing DVT/PE).We will be working with Brenda who’s beloved daughter Sophie Christopher age 28 died suddenly and tragically, click here to read Sophie’s  Story

proudly supporting logo - 2019Demelza

Demelza provides specialist care and emotional support for children with terminal conditions and their loved ones, so they can enjoy their time together as a family, for as long as they have.

Every year our work is a lifeline to over 750 children, young people and families  throughout Kent, South East London and East Sussex. From babies to young adults, we care for children with a range of different conditions, some of which are very complex and so rare, they have no name.

When a family desperately needs support, Demelza can give them the time, space and attention to cope. From diagnosis, for as long as we’re needed, we deliver specialist care with compassion. If a family chooses for their child to die at Demelza, we’ll make sure they have the support they need to focus on loving each other and make lasting memories.

Our ethos is to work for the whole family – parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents and other loved ones – because the whole family is integral to a child’s life.

Everyone working at Demelza strives to bring the most joy, fun and relaxation to the lives of children and families we meet. Our network of volunteers bring energy, passion, and dedication to help make Demelza all about life.

We provide specialist care services across the region, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, completely free of charge to those who use them. The unique support we give comes at a price, and at present we’re only reaching 20 per cent of the children who desperately need our help.

As a charity, we’re almost entirely dependent on the generosity of our supporters to provide the funds that keep our services going. Please make sure every family and child can depend on us when they need us most.
